Welcome to my website! I hope you are enjoying the spring into summer season as much as I am! This is my favorite time of year. Lots of COLORS everywhere! Flowers are blooming, trees are budding (allergies have kicked in--not so great), breaking out my summer clothes, and the chance to paint in vibrant hues.
I took some time recently to experiment with painting florals over the canvas AND the frame! It was fun to play around with the different dimensional aspect of the blooms and I'm pretty pleased with the end results. It was a great use of some old frames that I didn't particularly care for anymore.
The bright sunflower piece with oranges and yellows was a result of a demo at a recent palette knife workshop I did at the Pop Shop Too in Newport News, VA. The group was a lot of fun and each artists finished product was as beautiful and unique as they were--lots of wonderful support when artists get to work together!
As a resident artist at the Smithfield Arts Center@319, I'm enjoying meeting people from around the area, the state, the country, and the world! Many people visit the historic town, so my studio space is a great place to share my art and talk art with visitors. I've started teaching workshops in what is called "paper-painting," using acrylic paints, colorful papers, and other materials to create works of art.
