Started the new year with a large commission triptych of beached workboats. It was fun working on the three pieces simultaneously. Early February offered a chance to paint at the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk, VA where I painted a replica of American artist Manierre Dawson's (1887-1969) "Cumaea"--a cubist piece. This got me wanting to experiment with this art form.

Gearing up for summer and getting outside to paint en Plein Air. New work is on display at the Pinner Street (Suffolk) B&B to highlight the opening of their new crepe and coffee cafe, Davina.

Visitors and sales at the Art Center@319 (where my studio is located) are picking up, with locals and tourists visiting to see all the new pieces done by local artists.

Past work 2022

This was a very exciting year for me. I was accepted as a resident artist at Smithfield's (VA) Arts Center@319. I have a lovely, well lit studio space where I can paint and frame work, store all my gear, and be creative whenever the mood strikes. Working with new artists this year has been inspiring and I've also started to branch out into teaching workshops.

Finishing a 5-year run as co-chair of the Suffolk Plein Air event was also professionally satisfying. Now it's time to turn the event over to others who have embraced the fun and excitement of painting en plein air. Stepping down from a leadership role after the 2022 event in September opened other opportunities to pursue different artistic avenues. Although I remain involved with the Suffolk Plein Air Society and continue to be on the festival planning committee, I'm now enjoying more time at the Arts Center@319 where visitors from around the globe stop in to see artists at work.

This was a great year of learning new techniques through art workshops--in person and online. I finished the year with testing out the Zorn Palette and learning to better mix colors to get, in my mind's eye, a better cohesiveness to my paintings. With the pandemic is full force, staying home to paint was not a difficult decision. It offered the opportunity to take some online workshops and get outside in my backyard to paint. Past work 2018

A trip to France for a painting workshop as well as a week at the Nimrod Hall Artists' retreat made 2018 a terrific year--not to mention that I became a first-time grandma, too! This year also provided an unexpected trip to Hawaii--not too shabby. Little did I know that, like the rest of the world, travel would be coming to a halt for a few years beginning in early 2020.

Past work 2017

2017 was a wonderful year in my painting life. The highlight was a trip to France for a 10-day painting workshop in Duravel, France. The trip included 3 days in Paris with a side trip to French impressionist Claude Monet's home, Giverny. This year also included a trip to Denver, CO and a drive to Cheyenne, WY. And, of course, since I live near the Atlantic Ocean, the beach is always accessible for a quick painting trip. And, then, there is always my own backyard!
